Whataburger Coming to Nashville Area

Hiring more than 200 local employees this year, 1,300 by end of 2022

Country music and Whataburger go together like a beautiful serenade, so it was only a matter of time before Whataburger struck a chord in Music City.

Known for serving up a little hometown fun alongside its famous burgers and extraordinary customer service, Whataburger plans to open its first Nashville-area restaurant this fall at 5055 Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage. Additional local units are planned in 2022.

Whataburger is hiring in the Nashville area for positions including Restaurant Manager, General Manager and Area Manager. Hiring for team leaders and team members will begin this summer.

“At Whataburger, we believe a great customer experience starts with an exceptional employee experience, which is why we’re looking for caring leaders who can motivate and reward teams,” said Pam Nemec, Senior Vice President Human Resources and Brand Culture. “We compensate well and have a robust training program to teach needed skills. Even without restaurant experience, leaders can succeed at Whataburger with the right attitude and leadership ability.”

Whataburger General Managers earn $92,000 per year on average and run multimillion-dollar restaurants. Managers have the potential to make up to $55,000 a year (based on both market and performance) and lead teams of 60 people or more. Both positions receive industry-leading health, dental and vision benefits, paid vacation and 401(k) benefits.

The company plans to hire more than 200 local employees this year, and a total of more than 1,300 by year-end 2022. By joining the Whataburger Family, employees automatically are placed into Whataburger’s Restaurant Career Development Program, putting them on the path to growth from day one.

“As someone who has grown and advanced since I joined Whataburger as a Director of Operations more than 15 years ago, I can say that working at Whataburger offers so much opportunity for career advancement and personal fulfillment,” said Whataburger Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rob Rodriguez. “Our employees, who we call Family Members, are the heart and soul of our brand. Based on the friendly neighbors I’ve met in the Nashville area, I know there are a lot of wonderful people who we’d love to have join the Whataburger Family, and I encourage them to apply.”

Founded more than 70 years ago, Whataburger now has more than 840 locations across 10 states, operating 24/7, 364 days a year. Whataburger is best known for its signature, fresh-never-frozen beef burgers, available 24 hours a day. Its breakfast menu, available from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m., features items such as the fan-favorite Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit and Breakfast on a Bun. Whataburger’s famous Fancy and Spicy Ketchup are also well-loved by customers and are available online and in grocery stores.
