A Sweet Celebration
Superfan makes a sweet surprise for Whataburger's 75th
WhataFan Steffany Bowling didn’t just show up for Whataburger’s 75th birthday, she brought the cake — literally.
A Whataburger enthusiast from College Station-Bryan, Texas, Bowling made the three-hour drive to Whataburger headquarters while decked out in Whataburger gear to hand-deliver a one-of-a-kind, multi-tiered cake she designed herself. Helped by her 20-year-old son Josh, Bowling carried the gigantic cake inside the home office along with some deliciously decorated sugar cookies.
While Bowling's cake masterpiece wasn’t meant for eating, it was truly a treat for the eyes. Built with edible fondant and buttercream over a non-edible base, the towering cake stands at four tiers and includes a full burger tier, miniatures of our classic fries and burger bags, and one of Whataburger’s signature cups perched on top.
“I just loved the idea of people who love Whataburger as much as I do getting to just see it and enjoy it,” she said. Making other people smile is extremely rewarding for her, she added.
This cake is just one example of Bowling's deep love for Whataburger, which she said goes back to what she refers to as “old man breakfasts” with her grandfather, Amos, and his friends, and now lives on through her memories, daily purchases of sweet tea, and Bowling's artwork.
Though health challenges have made it hard for her to enjoy her favorite meal — a No. 1 with cheese — she still finds joy in sharing her creativity and kindness, whether it’s through her business Peace, Love & Cakes or her artwork featured by the Whataburger Museum of Art.
“You meet people in the drive-thru, you make connections,” Bowling said. “That’s what I love about Whataburger — it feels like home.”
