Romance Blossoms on Late-Night Whataburger Dates

For Haley and Michael from Frisco, Texas, winning the WhataWedding contest felt too good to be true at first. Whataburger is not only their favorite burger spot, but it’s also part of the foundation on which their relationship was built.

Haley and Michael met in 2019 while they were working together at a restaurant. Their shifts ended late, often not until midnight, so Whataburger was the only place nearby where they could get a bite to eat and spend time together.

“That definitely plays a part in why we love it so much as a couple,” Haley says.

Between bites of their burgers and fries, the Whataburger lovebirds formed a deeper connection. They’d sometimes sit and talk for hours after a shift, or they’d take it home and watch their favorite shows.

“Whataburger always fed everything we did together,” Michael says.

They never thought they'd get to the chance to celebrate their love with a surreal, Las Vegas Whataburger wedding—complete with an Elvis impersonator, orange-and-white cake, and showgirls adorned with sequins and plumes.

Something Old, Something New

Their love for Whataburger runs deep, but their relationship has helped them develop a whole new appreciation for their favorite burger spot.

“I don’t even remember when it started,” Michael says. “I’ve always loved it, and once I became old enough to drive myself, I was going several times a week.”

Haley says she's also always loved it, but it became her absolute favorite after they started dating.

“Michael always added ketchup to his burgers and I was like, whoa, that's something I can do," Haley says. "So it unlocked something for me, and I was like, okay, I could eat this every day forever!”

They've got their go-to-orders, of course, but they’re always excited to try new flavors together.

“Anytime a limited time offer gets announced," Michael says. “we’re almost always there to try it on the first day.”
