Our app has healthier eating on tap

Think of the Whataburger app as your new health coach

Online Ordering Available

You’re all fired up to eat right – counting calories, watching your sugar intake, cutting back on soda – but then lunchtime hits and you gotta get something on the run.

Never fear! With the new Whataburger app (or ordering online from your computer or tablet) you can select healthier options and save them to order again and again from your phone. Bonus: There’s no guesswork in tallying calories, fat, sugar or sodium because the app does it for you.

As you pick out your order, the app automatically tracks calories, serving as a personalized nutrition label for your Whataburger favorites. And studying labels, dietitians say, is a key to diet success. “Until recently, people weren’t able to do that easily at restaurants,” says Heather Martin, a registered dietitian.

No pressure

Running the numbers is easy. Tap the picture of a Whataburger menu item, and you’ll see the calorie count. Throw in the add-ons you’re considering, and the calorie count adjusts automatically.

Don’t like that number? Run new totals with different options. With another tap, you can get a nutritional details and allergen information.

It’s quick, and you don’t feel like you’re holding up the line.

Savor it, make it a favorite

When you strike a combo that’s just right, save it as a favorite. That can keep you strong in moments when willpower is flagging, Martin says.

“Using the app is like coaching yourself by leaving a little note. You have an easy way to click on items that already match your plan to care for yourself, instead of having to make the decision over and over again.”

Cut calories, not flavor

Some simple swaps will amp up the flavor of your meal without compromising nutritional value.

Consider these options for meals under 300 calories:

  • #1 Whataburger with no bun, add jalapeños: 290 calories.
  • Chorizo & Egg Taquito, jalapeños and Rancho Verde Salsa: 290 calories
  • Garden Salad, no cheese, add avocado and Ranchero Picante Sauce for dressing: 285 calories.
