Packing Hope, One Box at a Time in San Antonio
The pace was steady, the work simple, and the impact immediate. Inside the Children's Hunger Fund San Antonio facility, Whataburger Family Members, or employees, came together with a shared goal: to help feed local families.
In just two hours, the team packed 720 Food Paks, seven-pound boxes filled with nutritious, shelf-stable food. Box by box, the line moved quickly, with volunteers building boxes, sorting, packing and checking each item before sealing it up for delivery.
These Food Paks will soon make their way into homes across the community, distributed by local church partners who ensure each child receives their own box. Along with food, each delivery brings something more: connection, care and a reminder that families are not alone.
For many volunteers, the impact of the day was felt in the small moments—working side by side with teammates, some meeting for the first time, all moving in sync toward a common purpose.
From carefully packing each box to double-checking quality, everyone made every minute count. It was incredible to see people from different teams come together so naturally to support something bigger than themselves.
In addition to the hands-on effort, Whataburger contributed a $2,000 donation to support the organization’s ongoing work.
By the end of the shift, the numbers told one story—720 boxes packed—but the experience told another: that a few hours, a shared effort and a willingness to show up can make a meaningful difference, one family at a time.
