A special, surprise Whataburger photoshoot 

When Deana Griswold and her fiancé, Campbell, pulled up to Whataburger one day this April, Campbell thought they were just getting a bite to eat before heading to a photo shoot together. But to his surprise, Deana had arranged the shoot to take place right there at Whataburger, a classic A-Frame in Tallahassee. 

Deana got the idea when she saw local photographer Amber Lipford’s Facebook post saying she was inspired by that location and wanted to do a photo shoot there. 

“I immediately thought of Campbell,” Deana said. “I mean, he absolutely loves Whataburger.” 

Deana decided to schedule it for April, ahead of Campbell’s birthday, and to make it a surprise for him. 

“I'm not really a photoshoot type of guy,” Campbell said, “so I was kind of like, alright, let me just see how this goes.” 

Photos, family, and fries 

Campbell’s love for Whataburger was passed down through generations. He says his  grandfather was so passionate about Whataburger that, whenever he moved somewhere new, he always made sure there was one nearby. In fact, that location was the same one that brought his grandparents to Florida in the first place. 

“It was between Tallahassee, Tampa and Tifton, Georgia,” Campbell said, “and he picked Tallahassee because they had a beautiful A-Frame Whataburger.” 

Because of his history with that location, Campbell said he had years of memories running through his mind throughout the shoot. 

“I was like, this is the exact same booth, they haven't changed it,” Campbell said. “Whether it was at five years old playing tee-ball to being in college, late-night studying, to now here.”

Deana said one of her favorite shots was of her daughter, Ireland, sitting in the back of Campbell’s truck with ketchup and mayonnaise on her face. But her absolute favorites were the ones of Campbell, just because of how much Whataburger means to him. 

“Especially with him just dumping the fries on himself,” Deana said. “That was probably my all-time favorite photo.”
