Whataburger Hosts Fundraiser to Support San Antonio Food Bank’s SA Goes Orange
Whataburger is proud to announce we’re partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank for the 10th consecutive year to fight hunger and raise awareness for SA Goes Orange, a month-long campaign during Hunger Action Month.
Whataburger will host a month-long fundraiser from Sept 1-30 to raise money for the Food Bank.
Here’s how the fundraiser works: Customers who visit any San Antonio or New Braunfels area Whataburger restaurant during the month of September and donate at least $1 to the San Antonio Food Bank will receive a thank-you coupon for a free Whataburger with purchase of a medium fry and 32-ounce drink for their next visit.
Through cash donations and past fundraiser events, the company has raised more than $355K for the Food Bank over the past 10 years.
Volunteer Days at the Food Bank, Sept 14 and Sept 28:
In addition to the fundraiser, Whataburger is also activating its employees, called Family Members, to volunteer at the Food Bank on September 14 and September 28 to sort and pack donations for families and raise awareness for SA Goes Orange.
SAGO BY THE NUMBERS:
- $1 provides 7 meals
- Raised more than $355K in 10 years of partnership
- Contributed $63K to the Food Bank and more than 441,000 meals to the community last year
Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 830 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $2 billion annually.
