Serving Up Ws 24/7: Whataburger Launches First-of-its-Kind Restaurant on The Strip in Tuscaloosa

New Restaurant Brings Innovative Features Plus 65 New Jobs

Guests on-the-go near the University of Alabama can expect big flavor and next-level convenience when Whataburger opens its new, digital-forward restaurant on Monday, August 14, at 1130 University Blvd in Tuscaloosa, at 11 a.m.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the new, innovative restaurant is a nod to Whataburger’s commitment to convenience while keeping the bold flavors and extraordinary hospitality that Guests have come to expect. Staffed by a team of 65 Family Members (Whataburger employees), the University Blvd restaurant has an all-new kitchen design that is built to serve Guests quickly and efficiently—and accommodate Guests who place their order online, via the Whataburger Rewards App or at the self-service ordering kiosks at the restaurant. Perfect for students and professors on the go!

All-new food lockers inside the restaurant keep mobile orders at just the right temperature. The food locker pickup method provides a seamlessly convenient way to enjoy Whataburger, with features, such as opaque compartment doors to ensure privacy, user-friendly touchscreens and compartment sensors to simplify order loading and ensure accuracy.

“We know our Guests have busy lives. And you’ve asked us for faster and quicker ways to get your Whataburger. We are listening!” said Whataburger Brand Leader, Greg Guidry. "This restaurant represents a significant step in elevating on-the-go Guest convenience and brand innovation. We also know students are 24/7, and so are we. Whether it’s a late-night study session or an after-game pick me up, at Whataburger, we are committed to delivering even more ways to serve you.”

The new University Blvd restaurant delivers an elevated digital-forward Guest experience with a smaller dining room and simplified menu—curated to focus on the brand’s showcase items.

Whataburger is open 24/7, 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day), with breakfast served from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. In addition to dining locally, signature sauces—including Whataburger Fancy Ketchup, Spicy Ketchup, Original Mustard, One-of-a-Kind Creamy Pepper Sauce and more—are available for sale at Kroger, Walmart and Winn-Dixie grocery stores across the state.
