Making a difference, one cup at a time

This summer, nine-year-old Lilly Underbrink sold two batches of freshly squeezed, homemade lemonade at a stand outside her house in Flour Bluff, Texas, near Corpus Christi.

But instead of putting her earnings in a piggy bank, Lilly wanted her money to support ongoing flood relief efforts in Kerr County in the Texas Hill Country.

So she took her lemonade stand earnings to her local Whataburger and used the money to buy commemorative cups through the Cups That Care program. During the month of July, Whataburger donated 100% of the proceeds from these cup sales to local relief organizations in Central Texas.

“I’m excited to know that my donation is going to help the flood victims,” Lilly said.

To reward her generosity and hard work, Whataburger gave Lilly a free breakfast and a special bag filled with a stuffed bear, a journal, stickers, and other fun memorabilia.

“Thank you to the Flower Bluff community for helping me with this,” Lilly said.

The Cups That Care program received such an incredible response that Whataburger decided to continue its support by donating all profits from a second cup collection launched August 4. You can purchase cups online, or at participating Whataburger restaurants or drive-thrus.
