WHATABURGER AND HOUSTON TEXANS TEAM UP TO TACKLE HUNGER
Second annual Hunger Action Month partnership kicks off with special guest appearances and giveaways
NOVEMBER 6, 2017 -- HOUSTON – For the second consecutive year, Whataburger and the Houston Texans have teamed up to raise money for the Houston Food Bank, and it all starts with a kickoff event Nov. 11 from 3-5 p.m. at the restaurant located at 1110 Silber Road. The event is especially important as funds support Hurricane Harvey victims in the area.
During the event, customers and fans will have the opportunity to meet special guests including Houston Texans Ambassador Kevin Walter and Houston Texans Cheerleaders.
To add to the fun, attendees can take part in activities such as inflatable games, Whataburger’s Fry Toss and a photo booth. A disc jockey will be onsite and customers will have chances to win autographed memorabilia and raffle giveaways. The first 50 people to arrive will also have the opportunity to receive a special Whataburger prize.
“Whataburger is proud to partner with the Houston Texans to spread awareness about food insecurity right here in our Houston community,” said Whataburger Regional Director of Operations Mark Brown. “As a business that serves food daily, we want to help the Food Bank provide even more meals for families and individuals who need the support, including those affected in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.”
Customers who donate $1 or more to the Houston Food Bank at any of the 138 Whataburger locations across Houston from Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. to Dec. 4 at 3 p.m., will receive a thank you coupon good for a free Whataburger with purchase of a medium fry and 32-ounce drink. Last year, the Houston community raised an impressive $135,000 for the food bank during the fundraiser.
“We’re thankful for Whataburger, the Houston Texans and the community for their longstanding support,” said Houston Food Bank President Brian Greene. “Houston is currently ranked No. 4 in the top 10 list of the number of food-insecure individuals in the nation. Donations from customers during Hunger Action Month will help bring us one step closer to our goal of feeding 800,000 hungry children, seniors and adults each year.”
“It’s an honor to partner with Whataburger once again to join the Houston Food Bank in the fight against hunger,” said Houston Texans Vice President of Marketing and Community Development Jennifer Davenport. “We’re committed to inspiring positive change within our community and invite our fans to join us in supporting this important cause.”
