Whataburger Debuts New Digital Kitchen: All the Flavor with More Convenience

Whataburger Digital Kitchen Opens with Tech-Forward Features Designed For Guests On The Go

A first-of-its-kind, exclusively digital Whataburger restaurant has arrived in the Austin, Texas neighborhood of Bee Cave at 3201 Bee Caves Rd, #180. Opening Tuesday, September 5 at 11 a.m., the new concept, aptly named the Whataburger Digital Kitchen, integrates new brand innovations, elevates the Guest’s digital ordering experience and makes it more convenient than ever to grab your Whataburger favorites on the go.

The all-new digital kitchen is centered around a convenient, exclusively to-go experience featuring the first "Digital Pick-up Lane" instead of a traditional drive thru. Guests can place their orders with the Whataburger Digital Kitchen via the Whataburger Rewards App or online. Placing your order ahead for pick up at the new Digital Pick-up Lane allows our teams in the restaurant, whom we call Family Members, to deliver fresh, made to order food while reducing your time in the drive thru.

“Making Whataburger quicker and more convenient for our Guests means fully embracing the digital restaurant experience—but not forgetting who we are at our core: A Hometown Whataburger,” said Whataburger President and CEO, Ed Nelson. “Our Austin Guests were early to embrace other digital innovations, making it a perfect fit for our first Whataburger Digital Kitchen.”

Designed to cater to modern restaurant experiences and Guests who are looking for a seamless and convenient online and mobile ordering, the new Whataburger Digital Kitchen is completely cashless and centers around Guests placing their orders through the Whataburger Rewards app or online. It is the first digital-only model in the brand’s over 70-year history and as an exclusively digital concept, the restaurant will not have a traditional seating area, curbside pick-up or drive-thru.

At the restaurant, Guests have an option to retrieve their orders in other new ways—including exterior, weather-resistant food pick-up lockers.

The Whataburger Digital Kitchen will be staffed by a team of 50 Family Members (Whataburger employees).

Whataburger is open 24/7, 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day), with breakfast served from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. Signature sauces, including Whataburger Fancy Ketchup, Spicy Ketchup, Original Mustard, One-of-a-Kind Creamy Pepper Sauce and more, are offered at Albertsons, Central Market, H-E-B, Sam’s Club, Target, and Wal-Mart grocery stores, among others across the U.S.
