Whataburger Franchisee KMO Burger Crosses the Goal Line as it Opens its First Location in Kansas City

New restaurant includes nods to investor Patrick Mahomes

It’s game time. Whataburger franchise group KMO Burger, which includes MVP Patrick Mahomes, will open its first restaurant at 10780 Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kan., on Tuesday, June 7 at 11 a.m.

The new restaurant will be the fifth Whataburger in the Kansas City-area, following corporate-owned restaurant openings in Lee’s Summit, Independence, Overland Park and Blue Springs.

To celebrate this much-anticipated opening, the first two dine-in and first two drive-thru customers will receive a gift basket that includes vouchers for free Whataburger for a year.

“As part of KMO Burger, I am excited our team is opening our first location in Kansas City,” said Mahomes. “It’s great to bring a gift from my first home to my second home.”

The local team of 110 employees, who we call Family Members, will be led by Operating Partner Cesar Vera. The team is ready to serve the community through the dining room open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the drive-thru 24/7 daily. Along with a double drive-thru, self-order kiosks and a custom mural, the restaurant will include a Mahomes jersey and a plaque featuring #15, the NFL quarterback’s jersey number.

KMO Burger plans to open 30 Whataburgers over the next seven years, spanning from Wichita, Kan. to St. Joseph, Mo. Announced locations are:

2022

“We are thrilled to begin our market entry with the opening of the Parallel Parkway location and look forward to serving up Whataburger’s big flavors and fresh ingredients as we continue to expand,” said Jay Battle, KMO Burger’s Vice President of Operations.
