Whataburger Stands with Uvalde, Texas

Following tragedy, the brand stepped into action to support its local community

On May 24, 2022, a tragedy claimed the lives of 19 innocent students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, a community that Whataburger has been part for many years.

Identifying immediate needs for grieving neighbors, the brand deployed Family Members from surrounding areas to:

  • Aid first responders and healthcare workers and provide a week’s worth of meals
  • Offer comfort items and meals for Uvalde ISD elementary students and Family Members
  • Provide support to summer school teachers and students through Communities In Schools®, Whataburger’s regional education partner
  • Host Family Member appreciation events and community activations in partnership with The Astros Foundation

As healing continues, Whataburger will monitor the needs of the community as we help our fellow Texans, Family Members and friends over the months and years to come.
