Whataburger’s Summer Shake Flavors: A Guide

We’re offering up unique flavors – and they’re only available in certain areas!

Few things beat the heat better than a cold and creamy milkshake or malt. But long, hot summers demand some variety.

Whataburger has the answer.

We’ve got three flavors on tap this summer: Root Beer, Dr Pepper and Salted Caramel.

Each flavor is the perfect companion for an adventurous summer road trip, or a tasty respite from rising temperatures.

Which one your Whataburger serves depends on where you live. Check out the above map for a guide – and don’t worry: chocolate, vanilla and strawberry are available everywhere!

Sounds like the perfect excuse to take your taste buds on a Whataburger Shake Tour.

Dr Pepper

Both Whataburger and Dr Pepper are Texas icons, and there’s no better way to show your Texas pride than by having the ultimate Lone Star State treat. Made with pure Dr Pepper syrup, this shake has that classic Dr Pepper flavor with a small-town diner feel.

Only available in parts of Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Fun Fact: The doctor is in – and has been for more than 100 years! Dr Pepper was first invented by pharmacist Charles Alderton in Waco, Texas in the 1880s.

Root Beer Shake

The Root Beer Shake is as crisp and refreshing as a mountain breeze and with all the flavor and nostalgia of a root beer float.

Only available in West Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.

Fun fact: Some food historians believe the earliest variations of root beer could go as far back as Medieval Europe!

Salted Caramel Shake

Everything’s sweeter in the South: the people, the tea and now the shakes! Back by popular demand, the Salted Caramel Shake has a rich, creamy caramel flavor and a hint of salt, creating the ultimate balance of salty and sweet.

Only available in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.

Fun Fact: When salted caramel first took off in the U.S., it was a high-end flavor only available in gourmet and fine-dining establishments. Now, you can enjoy it in your favorite Whataburger shake or malt!
