Fans put Whataburger cups to use as faucet covers

Imagine a scenario.

It’s a cold winter night in Texas… or Oklahoma, Arizona, or any one of the 16 states where you can find Whataburger.

You check the weather forecast and see that the temperature is supposed to dip below freezing overnight.

Ah shoot, you think to yourself. I meant to pick up some dang faucet covers to protect my pipes before the first freeze of the winter. I wonder what I have around the house that I can use instead.

Now you’re in Macgyver mode—scrambling, frantically searching for any supplies you can use to outfit your hose bibb with a makeshift cover. You see some rubber bands, some writing utensils, and a Whataburger cup with melted ice and Dr Pepper remnants.

If your instinct is to grab that Whataburger cup and give it a second life as a makeshift faucet cover, you’re in good company. This big-brained tactic is employed each winter by possibly hundreds, maybe thousands, of other Whataburger lovers. Heck, maybe even millions—who can really say?

This is just one example of the many ways Whataburger fans have made the company a part of their everyday lives over the past 75 years. And it’s not the only way Whataburger has helped people through the winter weather.
